This exclusive Elfstedentocht cycling holiday combines the magic of the Elfstedentocht with an extra day on the stunning Wadden Island Ameland. The route follows the historic Elfstedentocht, past lakes, waterways, windmills, and picturesque villages. Along the way, you can get your Elfstedentocht card stamped, and at the end of the trip, you will receive an official certificate, an unforgettable souvenir!

The trip is fully organized by Friesland Holland Travel: bike transport, professional guidance, and Frisian tour guidance by Sytze ensure you can enjoy the trip stress-free. Sytze accompanies the group throughout the journey, sharing stories about Frisian culture, history, and nature, allowing you to experience Friesland up close.

Program Overview

Day 1: Moorslede | Rijs (~25 km)
Departure by coach to Rijs, a charming Frisian village. Before arrival, cycle the final 25 km along the IJsselmeer and enjoy the peaceful Frisian landscape. Overnight stay in Rijs.

Day 2: Rijs | Stavoren | Hindeloopen | Workum | Makkum (~45 km)
Cycle through green meadows and along waterways, stopping in historic towns such as Stavoren, Hindeloopen, and Workum. The day ends in Makkum, known for its beach and cozy promenade.

Day 3: Makkum | Bolsward | Harlingen | Franeker | Leeuwarden (~45–65 km)
Today, four Elfstedentocht towns are on the itinerary: Bolsward, Harlingen, Franeker, and optionally Leeuwarden, the capital of Friesland.

Day 4: Leeuwarden | Dokkum (~50 km)
Cycle through the Frisian landscape to Dokkum, the northernmost Elfstedentocht town. Optional walk along the city fortifications.

Day 5: Dokkum | Ameland | Dokkum (~45–55 km)
Take the ferry to the Wadden Island Ameland for a tour through stunning nature and picturesque villages. Choose between a shorter or longer island route. Return to Dokkum for overnight stay.

Day 6: Dokkum | Leeuwarden | Sneek | IJlst | Joure (~60 km)
Explore Leeuwarden, cycle to Sneek, pass through historic IJlst, and end the day in Joure.

Day 7: Joure | Sloten | Rijs (~35 km)
Final day: cycle from Joure to Sloten, the smallest town in Friesland, and back to Rijs. Conclude with the official Elfstedentocht certificate and coach transfer back to Moorslede.
